I actually remember seeing Marie and Bernard at a wedding I shot last year in Athenry. They looked like the cool fun couple both with a quick answer for everything and constant smiles on their faces. So when we met up and they asked me to shoot their wedding, I was only delighted. Roll onto March and they were still the same cool, fun couple and they planned a pretty spectacular wedding with sunshine ! This is Marie and Bernards wedding day story.
We are 18yrs together, met in CP’s Nightclub, I went up talking to him..or he probably be still there.
It was done on a beach at sunset on Rhodes beach..I was so shocked. I thought he was tying his shoe.
Ours was in The Abbey church, Galway. it was my late Grans’ church and I wanted to incorporate her as much as I could in our day.
In the Galway Bay Hotel. Great reviews, lovely room, great food.
Yes everything 1940/50 old Hollywood and movie theme
My wedding dress was a Mori Lee, sweetheart neckline with ivory and silver stitching fitted to the thigh then fuller skirt and long train. A lot of detail on dress, I added a drop sleeve. Always have someone who you know will give you best opinion when choosing your dress.
I found mine in Debenhams by chance. I wanted ivory satin not too high and an open toe..it was a bit hard to find..make sure they are comfortable, you will be wearing them most of the day.
My jewellery was a present from my children. Michael Kors earrings from my son Adam and my Pandora bracelet with a mom charm from my daughter and two other little sons.
Cathal Walshe did my hair. I wanted an up/down style very Michelle Keegan style, I didn’t want to do a harsh up style as I never wear my hair up. Brides should wear their hair they way they are more comfortable
Patrycja Rusiecka has been my makeup artist for years, I trust her 100%. She knows what I like. Just to do makeup in the brightest room. I didn’t go for natural look, I wanted a bold eye, contouring and a peachy lip.
We bought the suits in Suit Republic. I wanted more of a classic look. black and white. We gave them as gifts to our groomsmen.
I got my flowers from maddens in the city. I wanted a tear drop bouquet, with wild lilys and intertwined with pearls, it also included 3 pink roses as they were my Grans’ favourite flowers I then placed it on my Grans’ grave. I also had an artificial silk flower bouquet in ivory with diamond and pearl brooches as it will be my keepsake.
I picked Goyas as its well known and has great creations, it didn’t fail to impress,
Paul Duane was our photographer. It was relaxed, no pressure, very enjoyable part of our day. Paul is super cool, relaxed, so complimentary, fun ,and seriously so professional. You didn’t know he was there most of the time.
I was at my cousins wedding and I think I actually thought at one point she hadn’t hired a photographer. He wasn’t intrusive, or loud, or bossy. He was candid, I wanted that for our day and when I saw her pictures I was sold..only person I contacted. I knew he was going to understand us, what we wanted, he did all that and more. He is a lovely man and a real gentleman.
There are a few. When I got to the top of the aisle we both looked at each other and we both relaxed straight away..our vows we have waited so long to make our commitment to each other. to going to Grannies’ grave and finally saying “I’m married Gran finally”. seeing all our ideas coming together. All our little touches, the laughs, and me getting the nerve to do my speech,
We haven’t gone yet as we had two children doing exams in college, we are waiting for August, somewhere to relax, unwind and get some vitamin D.
Always ask for what you want from all of your vendors, you need to be happy with your choices. Don’t leave your table plan to the last week if you can..that was the most stressful for me.
Maybe not to have been delayed getting to church, left a little later then I wanted to and then got caught in traffic. Everything else was perfect.
