Dancing at the Inn

Michelle & Graham

The Inn at Dromoland

November 2015

Michelle and Graham were fantastic from the get go, they were exactly the type of couple I love to work with, laid back, relaxed and just looking forward to having a great party. In fact the first time I met them they had been to a party the previous night and were a little “tired” after it. Shooting at the inn at Dromoland is always a pleasure, its a great venue, and to have a civil ceremony there makes life so easy for the bride and groom. It really was a wonderful day at the Inn, and the dancing was top class. So have a little read of Michelle and Grahams day . . . .

WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND THE TWO OF YOU, HOW AND WHERE DID YOU MEET?

Like all good love stories we met in a bar in Ennis many moons ago. For a small enough town where everyone knows everyone, we had never met across each other before even though we had mutual friends. I’m the talker and he’s the dancer, it works well.

CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THE PROPOSAL?

We kind of just fell into an engagement. We had been together so long it just felt like it was the next step to cement the relationship.

Galway Wedding PhotographerGalway Wedding PhotographerWHERE WAS YOUR WEDDING CEREMONY AND WHY THERE?

We decided on a Civil Ceremony at the Inn at Dromoland as the big church wedding wasn’t for us as a couple. We liked the idea of a more intimate, personal setting with our family and good friends.

WHERE WAS YOUR WEDDING RECEPTION AND WHY THERE?

The beauty of a civil ceremony is you can have both ceremony and reception in the one venue, making the whole process a lot easier for us and guests alike. Having been to a few weddings here previously, we just loved the setting and location. (and cocktails)

WERE YOU GOING FOR A CERTAIN THEME OR STYLE WITH YOUR WEDDING?

White and elegant was what we chose for both ceremony and table décor. All class went out the window once the dancing started though!

CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT YOUR WEDDING DRESS AND ANY ADVICE YOU HAVE FOR OTHER BRIDES LOOKING FOR THEIR PERFECT GOWN?

I had an idea from the start of what i wanted and was lucky enough to find it and for the dress to suit me. That doesn’t happen for everyone though. I would say to other brides to be open minded about trying on styles they wouldn’t necessarily consider. sometimes you can get a nice surprise!

WHERE DID YOU FIND YOUR WEDDING SHOES AND DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR BRIDES LOOKING FOR THEIR BRIDAL SHOES?

My shoes were from Carvela and I just fell in love with them the minute I saw them. I would advise any bride to bring a change of shoes for later on in the night. Even the most beautiful of shoes can turn into devils after 10 hours!

Galway Wedding PhotographerGalway Wedding PhotographerGalway Wedding PhotographerWHERE DID YOU FIND YOUR JEWELLERY AND ACCESSORIES?

I’m not really one for jewellery, I’ve never even had my ears pierced. Graham bought me my necklace from guess and I got my hair piece from a local shop on orders of my hairdresser, ha!

WHO DID YOUR HAIR AND WHAT LED YOU TO THE STYLE YOU CHOSE?

My friend Joanne did my upstyle for me and Louise Byrne mobile-hairstylist looked after the colour. my only stipulation on the day was that my hair was pinned up to show –case the back of my dress which was so detailed.

WHO WAS YOUR MAKEUP ARTIST AND WHAT WERE YOUR INSTRUCTIONS WHEN BOOKING – WHAT WERE YOU AFTER?

I booked a well-known local make-up artist called Hilda Murphy. I had seen her work on numerous occasions and knew she would do a brilliant job without any instruction from me.

Galway Wedding PhotographerGalway Wedding PhotographerWHERE DID YOU FIND THE GUYS SUITS? WERE THEY PURCHASED OR HIRED AND WHY?

We sourced the suits from Club Dangan in Ennis. Graham bought his and we hired out the groomsmen suits. why did we hire them? because we are cheap!

CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT YOUR FLOWERS/BOUQUETS?

Ann at the Flower Den in Ennis did an amazing job arranging the flowers for us. I wanted them to be the one thing to pop out at the ceremony so we chose autumn colours of orange and wine against the white back drop and the navy of the bridal party, they were just gorgeous.

WHAT LED YOU TO CHOOSE THE WEDDING CAKE YOU DID?

We wanted something different for our cake rather than the traditional offering. Being Doctor Who fans we chose to centre the cake around that theme with the Tardis on top and the groom dressed as the doctor.

CAN YOU DESCRIBE THE PHOTOGRAPHY PART OF THE DAY?

The photography part of the day was nice and relaxed, not too intrusive which is what we wanted. We are a lover of the ‘action shots’ where people aren’t aware they are being photographed , nice to capture their natural reactions to events.

WHAT LED YOU TO CHOOSE Paul Duane Photography FOR YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY?

We decided to go with Paul for the very reasons above, he has a nice relaxed style, very easy to deal with and his attention to detail is second to none.

CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT FROM THE DAY?

The whole day was just amazing from start to finish, not many people had attended a civil ceremony before so it was nice to see and hear their thoughts on that. the whole day was just fun and happy. We wanted a celebration and that’s what we got.

CAN YOU TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR HONEYMOON?

We flew out to Lanzarote a little worse for the wear for a week afterwards. It was lovely just to unwind and enjoy each others company after the build-up and the mayhem of the day itself

Galway Wedding PhotographerGalway Wedding PhotographerWHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF ADVICE YOU COULD SHARE WITH BRIDES TO BE?

Try and relax and enjoy the day! it goes so fast and it is over before you know it.

IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO REDO THE WHOLE THING AGAIN, WHAT CHANGES WOULD YOU MAKE?

I don’t think we would change anything, the day went off brilliantly thanks to everyone involved
